Kazoo launched in 2016, after running what was the highest-funded journalism campaign in Kickstarter's history. Since then, we’ve won three consecutive Parents’ Choice Gold Awards and in 2019, we won the National Magazine Award for General Excellence. That’s a pretty big deal!
Kazoo is based in Brooklyn, New York and prints in Burlington, Vermont on sustainably sourced paper. We’re proud supporters of Brooklyn Book Bodega and First Books, which provide books and magazines to kids in underserved communities, and we've been part of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Time for Trees initiative, which aims to plant 100 million trees by 2022.
Erin Bried is the founder and editor of Kazoo and the mother of two daughters (a.k.a. Kazoo’s Tiny Editor and Teeny Editor). She’s also the editor of Kazoo’s graphic collection, Noisemakers: 25 Women who Raised their Voices and Changed the World (Knopf), and the author of three books, including How to Sew a Button. Named one of Family Circle’s “20 Most Influential Moms,” she’s appeared on The Today Show, The Katie Couric Show, NPR’s Weekend Edition and in magazines and newspapers nationwide.
